I am Ali McHugh. Currently I have a large ‘L’ plate on my back as a brand new Mum to John-Patrick (JP). I am married to John, a lovely, organic eating pescatarian, nicknamed the ‘fussitarian’ by his nephews. No prizes for guessing who does most of the cooking in our house!
We live in the, sometimes sunny, south side of Glasgow. Despite the sun deprivation I am a fan of the dear green place – more parks than any other city in Europe don’t you know – and can be spotted marching, with red buggy and ruddy cheeks, through those very green parks in a bid to regain my pre pregnancy figure.
Thankfully past the red-eyed, boob traumatising, grey hair inducing, marriage straining shock of the first few weeks I have mentally adjusted to life with baby in arms (although not completely consoled to losing the ‘lazy weekend lie-in’) and decided to, as the American’s say, “recession proof” my job by learning how to blog during mat leave.
So far, my career in marketing analysis, strategy and planning has focused on the ‘why’ – securing budget, setting goals and measuring performance to introduce improvements. Yes, yes, – I get great results – but it’s a bit dry. Now, I want to get down and dirty, do the ‘do’ like the techies, designers and internet geeks.
So here it is, my blog – www.alimchugh.co.uk – my maternity leave diary.
