Finding A Non Discriminatory Mortgage Provider
My mortgage deal is about to end, so I’ve been spending time calling banks and building societies to find a good deal. I nearly fell off my chair when a customer representatives for the UK’s largest mortgage provider said he didn’t think he could help me because I was on maternity leave.
I did not think that being on maternity leave would be an issue, however I was asked for my ordinary maternity leave salary and what date I was going to go back to work.
Thankfully I did find a mum friendly mortgage provider – Alliance & Leicester - who do not discriminate against women on maternity leave.
Please let me know if anyone else has had similar experiences with mortgages providers.
